After Daniel Craig was announced as the 6th James Bond, a web site was created that is attempting to encourage fans to “boycott” the film. It gave Craig critics a voice and was highly publicised by major news outlets.

The fans who supported Daniel Craig had no consolidated place where they could voice their support of Craig and their confidence in him. Because of that, it appeared to some as though the majority of fans didn't favour Craig as James Bond.

This site is here to prove them wrong. Show your support.

I'm a film fan, but never paid to see a bond movie from Pierce Brosnan onwards.

I cannot wait to see Daniel Craig as Bond. It's inspired casting and direction to move towards a darker, grittier character. The 'reality' promised in the new film is a really attractive premise to a tired franchise.

I'm not a bond fan per se, but i'll pay gladly to see Casino Royale...

I can't describe how excited I am to see James Bond become an assassin again. And really look at him and feel like he's an assassin. He's been either a fop or a self-parody for so long, I was losing hope. I don't care at all that Craig isn't a male model-type. Bond was never intended to be. Craig's got the "cruel good looks." It's because of that that he has really been free to dig into the role, and he's brought real commitment to this part, making me believe Bond's no longer a cartoon. Although I was originally a big Jackmanite, I couldn't be more satisfied to see Craig in this part. Truly looking forward to Casino Royale.

Just wanted to say that I think DC is an inspired choice for Bond, and the second Casino Royale trailer really blew me away. I'm very disappointed that so many people seem to be against this casting.

I'm sure Timothy Dalton got a lot of flak as well, and though his movies weren't the best of the bunch, I loved the fact that he made the role much darker - more like the character I know from the Fleming books. I think Craig will take the character along similar lines, and away from the more 'jokey' self-aware portrayals by Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore.

Good on you, Daniel! You have my full support!

The only question remains; will you yield, in time?

The question to all non-Craig supporters before Casino Royale opens and they are forced to eat their words. I am so excited to see Daniel in action as 007, and after smashing performances in movies like 'Tomb Raider', 'Road To Perdition' and of course the brilliant 'Layer Cake', I have so much faith in him.

No bad kudos to Pierce here, he was fine, but he lost the Bond touch after Tomorrow Never Dies and was becoming an everyday secret agent who was being crafted like a Hollywood hunk, not a gritty, deadly and covertly handsome secret anget as Fleming described Bond in the books. It was getting out of hand, and they needed to bring him down to earth, and with Daniel they have done that to a tee!

As with the fabulous Tim Dalton and lesser extent Roger Moore and Sean Connery, this looks to be the 007 we expect and haven't seen much on screen. A true assasin, a killer, a rogue, a charmer, a dare-devil, a man with nothing to lose and a man who will not stop to get his job done whilst having the look that he could bed the girl in a moment and kill you in a heartbeat without breaking a sweat. Daniel Craig is the bridge for the Fleming Bond to come back out of hiding and take the franchise to the next level and create a new, gripping series of films yet to come!

Daniel Craig IS James Bond, November 17th!

I said this somewhere else on cb.net but praise is worth repeating.

I never minded a "blonde Bond" and have been excited by DC as JB from the beginning. Personally, I think it's great when an actor; say a James Marsters, or a Naomi Watts (there's a Bond girl!) or DC; work for years honing their craft then start to get the recognization they richly deserve. This is more than some award, DC is being entrusted with a role beloved by the public. Sure it's easy to get the public interested in some A-list actor. But it's more courageous to choose a lesser known actor who can muster the right acting chops to really bring a popular character to life in a way the public hasn't seen heretofore. And what is power for anyway? If it allows Eon to do something like this, I think Mike and Babs are using that power very well indeed.

Well, i just needed 30 seconds of the trailer to know that Daniel Craig is gonna be as good Bond as Sean Connery and Roger Moore, he looks like a more human 007 (Dalton tried to do that and many people didn't like it, but i think Daniel has to take the risk)... greetings from Mexico!!

Just wanted to voice my support for Daniel Craig. I've seen a lot of his past work, "Copenhagen" being my favourite.

I think that his Bond will be intelligent, with us being able to see the character think on screen - I hope that Casino Royale will be a move away from the smug, action type of figure that we have have had in recent years.

While I havent seen the movie yet, from what I've seen of the film, I see that we won't be let down, where others have been content to coast on their laurels, you're actually taking it to the next step and giving us a fleshed out three dimensional James Bond.

I can't wait to see Casino Royale, and I hope you fulfill a long tenure of James Bond films.

I really don't understand why the furore about Daniel Craig being the next Bond continues. So he's blond? So what? He wore a lifejacket? He's an actor not a spy!

I have seen a few trailers for Casino Royale and have been very impressed. Craig is an accomplished actor and I'm really looking forward to watching his first incarnation as Bond.

My whole-hearted support goes to him, and to the rest of the cast and crew.

I'll be the first to admit that, upon first hearing of Pierce Brosnan being dropped from the James Bond role, I was upset. Brosnan was the first Bond that I can remember seeing because I was 10 when GoldenEye came out. I largely view him as the Roger Moore of my generation, as in he played the role for so long, and was so good at it, that we couldn't imagine anyone else doing it.

I was skeptical of Daniel Craig, but now that I see the trailers, I think it just may work. He's been criticized for studying the work of the previous Bonds extensively, only to not rely on it when shooting came. But I think that's because Craig realized that he's not Brosnan, he's not Connery, or Moore, or Dalton, or Lazenby. Trying to imitate them won't help. He's gotta play Bond in his own way, and I think that this is what he's doing.

Bond looks badass in the trailers, and I think Craig's portrayl is an interesting one. I look forward to seeing his take on 007 in its entirety once Casino Royale comes out.

I've just seen the new trailer for casino royale and it's unjustifiable proof that Daniel Craig was born to play Bond. He was my favourite to get the role even before he was cast. I can't believe those fools at craignotbond or whatever it's call. How can you judge the man even before the film is released.
I only started reading the Ian Fleming novels a year ago and I was surprised how different Bond was portrayed in the films than he is in the books. Casino Royale is my favourite all of the novels and I was happy that they finally got the rights to make the film. Daniel looks and sounds what Bond is described like in the book. A cold, lethal professional but also suave and sophisticated. He looks like he can kick the crap out you and afterward charm the pants of your girlfriend. He definitely combines the ruthless of Connery and the class of Brosnan. I think when November the 17th comes round all the critics and doubters will have nothing left to say. Daniel Craig is most definitely James Bond

How anyone could not like the choice of Craig for Bond is beyond me. He embodies that nasty but cool persona that was so evident in Fleming's bond. He's Britian's answer to Steve McQueen. You have to admit the actor does bear a resemblence to that icon of sixties cool. I think 35 years after Connery's last official Bond film, the producers finally got it right again: Bond with rough edges and a cruel side. Fleming never intended his Bond to be as suave, sophisticated and unflappable as portrayed by Moore and Brosnan. It make take time for a minority of fans to warm up to the new Bond, but for a majority of us, we say it was a long time coming.

I for one am looking forward to seeing CR and Craig's performance as 007 in particular.

When 'Layer Cake' came out myself and a couple of friends joked about how much Craig's character acted like Bond (see the scene where his friend 1st gives him a gun for protection and he begins to manouver around corners, much like we have all done when we were young).

When Craig was cast, I was delighted. Ok, like a lot of people, I initially hoped he'd dye his hair but then I realised that if his hair colour is the only thing to gripe/worry about - then we must be onto something really good (it's only superficially cosmetic anyway, right?) and early favourable reports are beginning to suggest this.

Some 'so-called' Bond fans (I say 'so - called' due to the way they want people to actually boycott CR - BOYCOTT the film? No true Bond fan would, no, COULD do that) seem to imagine Bond as some kind of 'GQ' type male model, and are therefore calling Craig too ugly.

I disagree with this completely; If anything, Craig reminds me of Connery - sure he could get the ladies but he could also give you a hell of a beating without a moments hesitation. He has a rugged quality that you would expect Bond to have given his experiences. That's what Craig is bringing back to the role - this Bond is tough as nails and he will add a sense of realism badly needed in a franchise that (i'm sorry) was dealt a massive blow in credability when it featured an invisible car and substandard CGI in DAD.

I'm looking forward to CR opening and changing a few peoples minds about Daniel; and to those who will still be too closed-minded to accept him - I'll just feel sorry for them because they'll be missing out on what I feel will be a great future for true Bond fans.

With each incarnation, the Craig detractors become more blathering and pathetically incoherent. (Who ever let them out of their playpens, anyway?) I'm a pretty diplomatic person by nature - really - and up till now I've been of the "wait and see" camp. But Daniel keeps looking better - my mouth is watering as I write this - and his enemies keep looking stupider. Casino Royale is going to be fantastic, and probably one of the best Bonds in years.

I can't wait to see Casino Royale - Daniel Craig is the best thing to happen to Bond in 20 years and the smartest move the producers have made.

The last few Bond films were more than disappointing, they were awful. An invisible car! Come on!

It is sad however that the only feedback Daniel Craig has recieved over the past six months from so-called 'fans' has been negative ...and some of it quite vicious.

That feedback certainly doesn't represent my views .....and clearly that of many others.

It is even sadder that the media chose to parrot such narrowly held opinions.

The new film will be great. I'll be seeing it twice - atleast.

James Bond was created by Ian Fleming in the early 1950s. Fleming went on to write 14 James Bond novels. The film rights to the books were then sold to Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli and Harry Saltzman. Sean Connery was cast in the role, and he made 6 James Bond films, most of which now stand as classics. They were quite close to Fleming's novels, although quite different in some ways. After his 5th James Bond film, Connery quit, and George Lazenby was James Bond. Lazenby was at first not accepted by the public, because everyone was so used to Connery's Bond. But Lazenby made one of the greatest James Bond films, and is liked by many James Bond fans. Connery came back for one last film after Lazenby left the role. Then Roger Moore became Bond. Some of his films were very good, some weren't. Moore brought comedy to the role, which angered some fans of Fleming's gritty, dark Bond. Still, Moore is respected by many casual and hardcore Bond fans and moviegoers around the world. Timothy Dalton came into the role for two films, bringing a very dark and Fleming-style Bond. He made his last film, Licence to Kill in 1989, before legal troubles made a six year gap until the next film. Sadly, Dalton left the role before he made another film. Dalton is a favourite of many fans, because he was arguably the closest Bond to Fleming's description. Pierce Brosnan was cast as Bond, and he made 4 films. But, with the exception of his first film, Goldeneye, a question is asked. 'Where has Bond gone?'. The Bond we were seeing had lost all of his roots, and was becoming another typical action hero. Goldeneye was a good film, but after Cubby Broccoli's death in 1996, the Bond films seemed like odd spoofs of themselves. After the disaster of Die Another Day in 2002, it looked like Bond was lost forever.

The point I'm trying to make is (and it is a large one, probably didn't need all that explanation, hehe), is that Casino Royale is going to be the best Bond film since the days of Sean Connery. From Russia With Love, my favourite Bond film, was a perfect mix of Fleming's literary Bond, and the cinematic Bond. It looks to me like Casino Royale will be just this. The action looks very realistic and suspenseful, the story is fantastic (where could you go wrong with Fleming's amazing novel?) and last, but not least, the leading actor is amazing.

Why can't all the doubters watch the film before they judge the main actor? Oh my god, he has blond hair! Well, so did Roger Moore (one of my favourite Bonds), and there is such thing as hair dye. Oh dear, he doesn't like guns... so, Daniel Craig is an actor, not James Bond. He is afraid of heights! Well, so am I, and Sean Connery was afraid of spiders, who cares? I am sure Daniel is going to be the best Bond yet.

He is a brilliant actor, he can play many roles, including James Bond.

I've gone of for too long, but I'll close off by saying this:

Daniel Craig, if you are reading this, I'm 100% behind you and Casino Royale.

    Best of luck,

zonymousbond of Mi6 and commanderbond forums.

For all of you fans that hate the fact that Daniel is the new Bond, wait until CR in November to judge him as Bond. I don't like a blond Bond but I do like the dark Bond that was shown in the teaser trailer. Brosnan seemed too much of a gentleman to be a cold bastard of a killer and both Connery and Dalton had that. See FRWL, TLD, and LTK as a reference. Sure Brosnan shot Elektra, but Connery and Dalton could have done that as well. Craig seemes likely to do it too. Don't let Craig's role in Layer Cake influence your image of him as Bond because that dude was a wussy and he was WRITTEN like that by the screenwriter. Craig only played him the way the script was written. That movie sucked anyways even though Siena Miller was hot. In conclusion let's do the American thing and vote in November.

Yes, I also found it hard to accept Pierce had been removed from his role as James Bond. But in retrospect, as yet just another in the long, long list of life long fans of Ian Flemings' creation, I found it hard to accept someone replacing Sean and also found it hard to accept anyone replacing Roger and also Timothy - at least I did, until I saw the release of the next movie in line, portrayed by the next actor in the line. I ultimately ended up enjoying each new actor that has portrayed JB, each with their own style. Please keep in mind all the actors were restricted within the limititations of how the producers & directors instructed them to portray Bond & by the script of the screenplay. The tongue in cheek humour, the far out stunts, gadgets, computer generated space fights, invisble car, space lasers & kite sailing over broken icebergs were not the decisions of the actors but the decisions of the producers & would not be part of the movies unless the producers instructed them to be. Pierce very much wanted to go back to basics with Bond but was not given the chance. Well I am happy for Daniel that he has been given that opportunity to do so. From his interviews, trailer & what has been said of him by his director & other professionals I sincerely believe 110% that he can take over & "become Bond". Each actor has shown us James Bond is still alive & well & have contributed greatly in their own way to the legacy living on. I like so many other fans, watch all the movies over & over again. Change is a part of life that most of us, including myself tend to be leary about & can easily tend to prejudge, especially when changes to our world of Bond happen. I was skeptical of someone replacing Ian Fleming as the author of Bond, especially impacted by the ironic coincidence that I had just graduated from high school in the summer of 1964 when Fleming died. I thought it was all over, at least I did until I read John Gardeners' first book & then I could hardly wait for his next book & the next movie. As time marched on I enjoyed all the authors, Amis, Wood and was particularly sad to see the Raymond Benson books come to an end. I have collected them all & reread them all as time passes. However, the next author to follow Benson I anxiously await. You see, change can be a good & positive thing. As an aging baby boomer with grey hair I was skeptical about reading "another" Young Bond story, until I read Silverfin then I just had to get my hands on Bloodfever and can hardly wait for the next Charlie Higson book. Daniel Craig was an unknown to me at the time he was declared to take over as Bond but I had learned my lesson not to prejudge & made it my mission to find out all I could about him. I fortunately have obtained most of his movies & TV series, the majority had to converted from region 2 England format to region 1 North American format, but well worth the effort and sufficient to confirm for myself that he is indeed a superb and intense actor and has all the qualities to become the Bond that Ian Fleming created and carry the franchise well into the future. In addition to being a Bond fan I am now very much a Daniel Craig fan, but then again, I am also still very much a Pierce Brosnan fan, although he no longer is the actor who portrays James Bond in the movie. Daniel Craig is Jame Bond now & I will be there opening night at the theatre as I will be for all the other Bond movies he is in & will buy the Casino Royale DVD and all the succeeding DVD's to watch over & over again. That is what James Bond fans do isn't it? Yea, I know, collecting all the different trivia stuff & autographed photos is another story. Daniels' autographed Casino Royale gun pose photo is on the living room wall next to all his Bond predessors. I like the multitudes of many, many fans worldwide I am sure, can hardly wait until they make a D.C. Corgi icon, D.C. Sideshow figurine, D.C. etc.,etc.,etc. and also a collector edition on the new Aston Martin DBS, etc.,etc.,etc. to add to the ever increasing, rather extensive Bond collection.
    Daniel Craig is 110% Bond.

I've been a 'believer' from day 1, and it now seems (as more bits and pieces of 'Casino Royale' are leaking to the public) that my belief hasn't been unfounded. Surely Craig is not a 'natural Bond-type'- but we've had a 'natural Bond-type' for ten years, and to me it got a little boring in the end. What matters more than hair colour is that Craig has the gravitas and the self-assured composure, the killer eyes and the cool voice.

Daniel Craig has got technique, soul, rhythm and range (is he the jazz musician of Bond actors?). 'Casino Royale' set reports show that he takes the job very seriously and works very hard to get it right. He looks every inch like a man at his physical peak, and obviously brings a quiet intensity to the part. I don't think that Martin Campbell exaggerated at all when he said that Craig is the best actor who ever stepped into the shoes of 007. Connery is certainly the most iconic, he moves like a dancer and has an undeniable cinematic presence and sense of understatement, but (apart from ventures like 'The Offence') he seems to lack the daring to expose himself to us and has sought refuge in vanity; Lazenby sufficed as a vehicle but was not an actor; Moore mostly mastered the art of self-deprecation (whilst undeniably possessing a wealth of acting technique); and Brosnan is, in my opinion, not a very versatile or expressive actor at all. While I like Dalton's rendition of Bond very much, and while his grasp of technique is beyond question, there was always a theatricality to him that made him aloof to the camera. Craig doesn't have that: he reveals himself to the camera and comes to the part as one of the most promising British screen actors of his generation. His acting is urgent, powerful, complex and layered.

Does great acting make a great 007? Not necessarily. But Craig also has a quality that was observed by Kingsley Amis in his 'Bond Dossier' some 40 years ago- precisely because of his naturalism and his less superficial looks, he is able to play Fleming's Bond as the 'everyman-as-superhero'. Fleming's Bond was not born a superhero, he acquired his skills through rigorous training and disciplined exercise. That's what makes the character cool and attractive, and that allows the audience to 'lock into' the character and experience the adventures together with its hero. Daniel Craig embodies this quality perfectly, and therefore I still firmly believe he will shine as James Bond.

I can't wait for the release of "Casino Royale"! When Daniel Craig was first announced as the new Bond, I thought "hmm...interesting choice. The man can act. This should be good." Then when I heard that EON were going 'back to basics' with this film, I thought "This will be a great Bond film." And since the trailer was released, I've been thinking that this will be the best Bond flick in a very long time. And a major reason for this is Daniel Craig.

Dan, you were exceptional in "Layer Cake" and "Munich". If any actor can give CR an edge, it's you. I'm sure you've been in the acting game long enough to know that you shouldn't take all the negative press too seriously. Sean Connery copped his fair share of flak from the British press way back when he got the gig. As for the 'tools' who say you're the wrong man for the job, well, they remind me of the wedding guest who always complains about something ("Ahh, the food was okay, but the band was crap! And why did we get seated near the toilets?"). People like that are never happy. Unfortunately, the internet gives them an easily accessible forum for their narrow-minded greivances. Don't worry about what they say. They're wrong...they just don't know it yet. You're the right man for the job and you have plenty of supporters on CommanderBond.net who share my view.

So holster the Walther, Daniel, slip on the tux and put the DB5 into gear! We'll see you in November.

Remember, man, the angels are on your side.

    Dear, Daniel.

You've 'nailed', probably the biggest and most illustrious role for an actor in cinema history. Your net earnings will secure you and your families future, and you will be able to command a salary that suits YOU, and not your agent. Your original love for acting (and having to starve whilst paying out loads of money at Drama School) has now hit an "All Time High!". No longer do you have to suffer that dreadful feeling of "when will I get that big break". That "big break" is here, and I'm sure your career will not stop when you decide to retire (many years from now) from playing Bond.

Is there any chance you can lend me $50.00 till next Friday?. Just kidding, and I just want to put a smile on your face.

Forget the pessimism that you may have read on the Internet. They're not worth worrying about because they're not real Bond fans. Just idiots who can not live up to the fact that Bond had to be recast every so often. And I'm sure they'll be more uproar when you hang up your Tux. The Internet does NOT constitute the general movie going audience, and what people really think. Some of us change our opinions according to how good or bad how our day has been. Come November 17th, you'll be inundated with awash of optimism. So much so that it would also make you sick. Just going down the road to get that loaf of bread, or some lager (fancy a pint? !) ) and a group of people who have just seen YOUR movie (because it IS yours), you'll wish you had of lent me that $50.00.

Here's to Daniel Craig the new James Bond, OO7.

    All the best, Mate.

    Cheers,

    Ian

    Dear Daniel,

Please forgive me for I have sinned,
I was one of those who denied you as the man we have been waiting for,
I joined in with those doubted you,
for I was blind and could not see
please forgive me for my transgressions
for I have seen the light,
once the trailer began I was convinced that you are him,
You are the James Bond we have been waiting for.

    Amen

    Dear Mr. Craig,

I am maybe one of the biggest Austrian James Bond Fans and I have to admit, that when I first saw you at the press conference back in October 2005, I was not convinced but both at the same time not dissapointed or something like that. But when I saw your first images and videos as 007 I was really impressed by them and I suddenly knew you would (and will) do a great job as the world most secret agent.

And please, don't believe in the articles of the boulevard media, the majority of the bondfans worldwide love you and we are all looking forward to the release of Casino Royale (and of course of Bond 22) with the best Bond actor of the 21st century...

    Yours Sincerely,

    Gernot from Vienna, Austria!

    Dear Daniel,

Everything I saw or read about you as our new 007 is phantastic. You are the right choice for me and you will deliver us a great film with Casino Royale. Hope we see you in a lot of Bond-Films. I visited the set in Karlovy Vary and made a picture with you. This was a great moment for a Bond-Fan since 1979. I wish you all the best with Casino Royale and all the further Bond Films. Long live 007,

    Heiko

You're not Connery, Moore or Bronsan but that's why you can be original, show them the dark side of Bond that's not cliche.

    Dear Mr. Craig,

Sir, I admire your courage throughout your time filming as 007. Who would of thought that there would be so many villians against you off the screen, rather than on? Personally I think you've handled them quite well. Come November 17th, the bandwagon will be so full all those losers will be begging to get on it. Hope everyones words will brighten your day and I know you'll have a successful 007 career.

007 fan for life. (Layer Cake was awesome too)

    Jeff007.

Although not an obvious or natural choice, Daniel Craig as James Bond has really grown on me: through the teaser trailer, other clips and pictures from the movie and sets. Clearly the franchise owners wanted to take the movies in a different direction - a direction I like and support. Right now I couldn't imagine anyone else in the role and cannot wait to see the movie in November.

    Go Danny!

Just wanted to post a message like everyone else saying that I'm very much looking forward to the new flick.

When Tim Dalton resigned, I was so against whoever would come after him because I really wanted Dalton to stay, as I felt he was an excellent actor for the role. I was determined to dislike whoever would come after him. But I couldn't do it once Goldeneye came out. It was too good.

That's how I feel about Casino Royale. I wanted Pierce to carry on some more, but I'm not going to get all extremeist and say Craig sucks before I haven't seen his movie.

The vibe for this new one is quite different; been watching since FYEO was the "new" 007 flick. I'd like to think I've enjoyed many different styles of 007 movie. I'm sure I'll enjoy this too.

Daniel Craig is easily the best actor to play Bond now. We are getting a Steve McQueen type, putting the cool back into Bond again.

I just hope those tossers on that pathetic website have not put him off too much, and that he does realise there are many out there who think he is perfect for the role.

I've been a fan of the series for years (moreso with the novels) and now we finally get someone who has the potential to really play the role Fleming envisaged all those years ago. To me, he looks exactly what I imagined Bond to look like from the novels.

    Superb casting!!!!!

Daniel Craig will make a fine 007. He is a superb actor, and worthy of taking over the mantle. Eon has never let us down yet in choosing a new Bond, and this time is no exception. Having seen the trailer and some behind the scenes footage, I can safely say that I have complete faith that Mr. Craig will live up to all of our expectations.

We only have to wait until November 17 for the whole world to realize what a wonderful Bond he is.

    Good luck, Mr. Craig!
